A Letter to Post Gender Columnist Monica Hesse About Trump Causing the Gender Gap
Kick a friendly dog often enough and eventually you have a mean dog on your hands
Dear Ms. Hesse,
As I have written multiple prior letters to you, I have little doubt that you’re aware of my efforts to challenge The Washington Post’s longstanding gender bias against men, provable by its imbalanced coverage of domestic violence1 and made undeniable by its 2018 publication of a repulsive op-ed, Why can't we hate men? 2
I respectfully ask that you take the time to read this letter about your recent column, Trump caused the gender gap and to thoughtfully consider what I say here.
In my most recent letter to you, I took you to task for not recognizing why substantially more Gen X women support Trump over Harris. In this letter I challenge your assertion about Trump as the cause of the gender gap.
For you to make such a wrong-headed claim is yet more proof that your feminist bias causes you – and most Post columnists – to blind yourselves to the feminist pink elephant in the room:
The main cause of the gender gap between male and female voters is the unbridled, obsessed, man-hating feminism that has run rampant throughout the world for more than half a century.
This kind of blind, man-hating prejudice has long been propagated by the Post, as exemplified by its providing a platform for a radical feminist to broadcast to the world a Nazi-like hatred for men:
Ms. Hesse, do you think that by printing an article that by its very title must be considered “hate speech”, the Post falls short of the true spirit of its “Democracy Dies in Darkness” slogan? Wouldn’t you object if the article was titled “Why can’t we hate women?” or “Why can’t we hate blacks?”
OF COURSE YOU WOULD!
Then why is it that few – if any – of the Post’s management, columnists, and staff recognize this as hate speech? How is it possible that no one at the Post has ever objected to it?
At some point, Democrats and liberals are going to have to decide if they want to “problematize” half the voting population.”
Trump didn’t cause the gender gap; instead, sixty years of unhinged feminism, much of it promoted by The Washington Post, helped to create the monster that is Donald Trump.
The best, shortest proof I can offer is a 2018 article by Andrew Sullivan, #MeToo and the Taboo Topic of Nature. That article ended with the following paragraph:
“Trump understands this dynamic (feminist hatred of men) intuitively. [Trump advisor Steve Bannon] believed it was integral to the Trump project, and wants the slanted elite discourse on men to continue and intensify [emphasis added]. I think this issue was an under-acknowledged cause for Clinton’s failure. At some point, Democrats and liberals are going to have to decide if they want to “problematize” half the voting population.”
Ms. Hesse, please don’t misunderstand. If I were a woman, even a die-hard Republican, I’d never vote for Trump based on nothing more than on his lewd “grab ‘em by the pussy” comment revealed by the infamous 2005 Access Hollywood tape.
And I fully agree with your reasons why women are “unimpressed by Trump”, including the draconian, overly restrictive changes to abortion law, his long history of sexual abuse of women, and finally, his ridiculous, narcissistic, gaslighting claim of “being women’s protector”.3
But with that said, I can only conclude that both you, as well as the Post generally, don’t understand or refuse to acknowledge why so many men support Trump. The millions of men who are fed up with feminism and the Democratic party are the core reason for the voting gender gap, which can be summarized in a single sentence:
Kick a friendly dog often enough and eventually you have a mean dog on your hands.
In the 2016 election, Hillary Clinton described many Trump supporters as a “basket of deplorables”. Many journalists and political analysts and Clinton herself said this comment was a factor in her loss to Trump.
Can you think of any ways that sixty years of feminism has treated men as a “basket of deplorables?”
I can. For more than six decades feminists have:
Promoted uninhibited gender slurs and epithets directed against men and boys: “toxic masculinity”, “mansplaining”, “manspreading”, “man baby”, “male tears”, and my all-time favorite feminist smear, “male chauvinist pig”. For more examples, see here.
Spread the hatred of men and boys across the world. For proof, see my post Feminism is a Hate Movement: In Their Own Words.
Worked to destroy fathers, marriage and family.
Lied about an uncomfortable truth about domestic violence: women are at least as violent as men. For proof, see How Feminists Have Concealed the Facts About Women's Domestic Violence
Lied continuously about rape, the wage gap, false accusations against men and more. See my post Feminists Lie. All. The. Time.
Ms. Hesse, in closing, let me reiterate what I said in a prior letter:
It’s clear that you and many of your associates at the Washington Post are mostly clueless about what feminism has become, about feminism’s dark side. If I may suggest, to learn more you might want to start by reading my letter to Christine Emba in response to her July 2023 “Men are lost” article.
My letter includes discussion of how feminism: is founded on lies, has become a hate movement, propagates “idiot hypocrisy” by telling obvious falsehoods, and briefly describes the damage caused by six decades of feminist lies and indoctrination.
And finally, don’t forget, the key to understanding the gender gap that favors Trump can be found in the simple lesson of kicking friendly dogs:
Kick a friendly dog often enough and eventually you have a mean dog on your hands.
Sincerely,
Stephen Bond,

This observation was confirmed by a February 2023 report by The Coalition to End Domestic Violence that described a 10-Year Suppression of the Truth on Domestic Violence by the Washington Post. For further evidence see Domestic Violence: Feminism’s Big Lie.
You’ll have to forgive me for repeating this standard opening for all of my letters to you; I do it for new readers who haven’t seen prior letters.
Because my intent is only to challenge the Post’s feminist gender bias, I’ve tried to avoid discussing Trump. I do agree, however, with retired federal judge and January 6th Committee witness J. Michael Luttig: "Donald Trump and his allies and supporters are a clear and present danger to American democracy.")
