A Letter to Two Post Columnists About Article On Harris Facing Sexism
The authors' gender bias caused them to mislead readers to the point of dishonesty
Dear Mses. Parker and Reston,
I respectfully ask that you take the time to read this letter about your recent article in The Washington Post, Seeking a historic win, Harris faces a familiar foe: Sexism, and to thoughtfully consider what I say here.
As a brief introduction, I’m a lifelong reader of the Washington Post who nevertheless has long noticed the paper’s anti-male gender bias, provable by its decades-long imbalanced coverage of domestic violence1 and made undeniable by its 2018 publication of the op-ed Why can't we hate men? Since then, I’ve been sending open letters to Post columnists who have written articles that perpetuate this feminist-inspired bias.
Your article is, unfortunately, another example of this bias.
Please don’t misunderstand. I’m a man who, despite massive misgivings about Kamala Harris’s suitability for the office of President, voted for her over Trump.2 (My reasons are similar to those in an article by Andrew Sullivan, Harris For President – An anguished but emphatic endorsement.)
Your article is yet one more example of the kind of daily, run-of-the-mill anti-male gender bias that is so prevalent not only the Washington Post, but throughout most of Western media, a prejudice resulting from 60 years of feminist political, cultural, and legal indoctrination.
Your complaint of Harris facing sexism by men because of “misogyny” is one that was also trotted out by supporters of Hillary Clinton,3 but one that is itself biased and an example of feminist-inspired misandry, or the hatred of men.
“But when the Washington Post ran an article on the role of sexism in the presidential race, the headline misled the reader to the point of dishonesty: “Harris Faces a Familiar Foe: Sexism.”
A press release by the Coalition to End Domestic Violence titled Kamala Campaign Needs to Apologize to Men for False Accusations of Sexism, specifically raised your article’s gender bias:
“But when the Washington Post ran an article on the role of sexism in the presidential race, the headline misled the reader to the point of dishonesty: “Harris Faces a Familiar Foe: Sexism.” Writers Maeve Reston and Ashley Parker highlighted numerous testimonies of anti-female sexism, all designed to reinforce a well-honed narrative of pervasive female disadvantage.
But when it came to discussing the all-important Pew study, the WaPo writers devoted a scant two sentences to its findings. The female authors would only admit that “Forty percent said it [Harris’ gender] would help,” with only 30% saying her sex would “hurt her chances in November.” That revelation was buried deep in the lengthy article, assuring that most readers would gloss over it.
Lacking a factual basis, the Washington Post article became an outworn exercise in gender bias. And predictably, politicians ran with the male sexism narrative.”
In the 2016 election, Hillary Clinton described many Trump supporters as a “basket of deplorables”. Many journalists and political analysts and Clinton herself said this comment was a factor in her loss to Trump.
Can you think of any ways that sixty years of feminism has treated men as a “basket of deplorables?”
I can. For more than six decades feminists have:
Promoted uninhibited gender slurs and epithets directed against men and boys: “toxic masculinity”, “mansplaining”, “manspreading”, “man baby”, “male tears”, and my all-time favorite feminist smear, “male chauvinist pig”. For more examples, see here.
Spread the hatred of men and boys across the world. For proof, see my post Feminism is a Hate Movement: In Their Own Words.
Worked to destroy fathers, marriage and family.
Lied about an uncomfortable truth about domestic violence: women are at least as violent as men. For proof, see How Feminists Have Concealed the Facts About Women's Domestic Violence
Lied continuously about rape, the wage gap, false accusations against men and more. See my post Feminists Lie. All. The. Time.
Mses. Parker and Reston, in closing, let me reiterate what I said in a prior letter written to the Post’s gender columnist Monica Hesse:
It’s clear that you and many of your associates at the Washington Post are mostly clueless about what feminism has become, about feminism’s dark side. If I may suggest, to learn more you might want to start by reading my letter to Christine Emba in response to her July 2023 “Men are lost” article.
My letter includes discussion of how feminism: is founded on lies, has become a hate movement, propagates “idiot hypocrisy” by telling obvious falsehoods, and briefly describes the damage caused by six decades of feminist lies and indoctrination.
This lack of understanding about feminism’s dark side is preventing you from understanding why millions of men who are fed up with feminism and the Democratic party didn’t vote for Kamala Harris. This essential truth can be summarized in a single sentence:
Kick a friendly dog often enough and eventually you have a mean dog on your hands.
Sincerely,
Stephen Bond

PS. As I also mentioned to Mses. Hesse and Emba in letters to them, if you would only open your minds to what feminism has become, you would discover one of the biggest stories of the past 60 years.
This observation was confirmed by a February 2023 report by The Coalition to End Domestic Violence that described a 10-Year Suppression of the Truth on Domestic Violence by the Washington Post.
Because my intent is only to challenge the Post’s feminist gender bias, I’ve tried to avoid discussing Trump. I do agree, however, with retired federal judge and January 6th Committee witness J. Michael Luttig: "Donald Trump and his allies and supporters are a clear and present danger to American democracy.")
For example an October 2016 Atlantic article Fear of a Female President made this claim. But a November article Why Hillary Clinton Lost describes five more reasonable explanations (including “Clinton’s arrogance”) and that didn’t include misogyny.
The Democrats are clueless about their female chauvinism and dismissal of men. They just double down on their stupidity, and call men that rejected Harris "misogynists".
Thank you. Great letter. Good job giving them the iron fist in the velvet glove.
