The “manosphere” is the term typically given to male opposition to feminism’s lies, hate, and misandry. But many women who are speaking out against feminism can legitimately be considered an integral part of the manosphere.
A list of these women can be found in my article Women of the Manosphere.
This article profiles just one these wonderful women, the late Suzanne Steinmetz.
Dr. Suzanne K. Steinmetz was a domestic violence researcher who wrote a book, The Battered Husband Syndrome. After her book was published, she received death and bomb threats from radical women’s groups:
“When professor Suzanne Steinmetz published the results of her survey on domestic violence, no one had prepared her for the firestorm that would ensue. You see, feminists take it as an article of faith that only husbands abuse their wives.
So when Steinmetz revealed that women are often as violent as their husbands, the fem-fascists started a whispering campaign designed to block her promotion at the University of Delaware. When that didn’t work, they phoned in a bomb threat at her daughter’s wedding. Cowed by the threats, Steinmetz soon suspended her pioneering research.” ¹
Two partners in related DV research, Richard Gelles and Murry Straus, also described how the extreme feminist reaction over the issue of battered men squelched further study of the subject and caused many other researchers to avoid the field completely:
“Perhaps the most unfortunate outcome of the wrangle over battered men is that since the debate in the late 1970s, there has been virtually no additional research carried out on the topic. The furor among social scientists and in the public media has contaminated the entire topic. … Other social scientists who witnessed the abuse heaped on our research group — especially on Suzanne Steinmetz — have given the topic of battered men a wide berth.”²
Suzanne often collaborated with Gelles and Straus and helped write an early book with them on domestic violence, Behind Closed Doors: Violence in the American Family.
Thank God for Suzanne and women like her! They are literally one-in-ten-million!
